illume winter lights

Each winter illume, the Coromandel Winter Festival of Light, transforms Coromandel town’s main street. This family friendly festival is exciting, illuminating and engaging – it tells stories about our history, our natural environment and our rich art and culture through innovative audio visual performances, lanterns, street installations, light, and colour. find out more

Coromandel Artstour

The Coromandel Artstour is a self guided open studio event. For 2 weekends in April, Coromandel artists open their studio doors. This is an opportunity to meet the artists, explore the studios and see new work as it is created. You can visit the studios of around 30 artists on the western Coromandel Peninsula, over two weekends with set opening hours. find out more

Keltic Fair

One of New Zealand’s most successful fairs and the highlight of The Coromandel holiday season. Enjoy a full day of entertainment, kids rides, food & a world of arts, crafts and great value shopping. The town is packed, a real buzz.

Monteith's Wild Food

Restaurants in Coromandel compete in this national competition with a variety of dishes from an especially created menu each year to match the range of Monteiths beers. find out more

K2 Cycle Race

The K2 is the toughest one day cycle challenge in the Southern Hemisphere. It is also one of the most scenic and varied. find out more

The Great Kauri Run

This off road run takes competitors from Waikawau Bay on the Eastern coast up and along the central divide and into the township of Coromandel.

A kauri tree will be planted along the trail for each person that participates in the event and our vision is to plant 10,000 trees over the next ten years and to create an avenue of Kauri all the way from Waikawau to Coromandel. find out more

Nature Programme

Come and experience nature first hand with activities for all ages and abilities.

Each year a dedicated bunch of volunteers from Moehau Environment Group run a Summer Programme over January on the Coromandel. The programme offers kiwis and visitors the chance to experience and enjoy Coromandel’s natural treasures guided by local volunteers keen to share their passion and knowledge. Take a ride to offshore island sanctuaries, have a real up-close Kiwi encounter, learn about creepy crawlies, and more! find out more
